Rocking Horse Trumpet

Playing a trumpet bigger than both the child and the rocking horse he rides, this fanciful vintage image entitled Pegasus is truly unique. Though the scan left it a bit fuzzy, hopefully with careful editing it could be cleaned up and made sharper. The wings on the rocking horse further create the illusion that the child pictured is an angel or fairy making a bit of their own heavenly music.

Oh, there’s just so many wonderful book illustrations to be found by the artist Walter Crane (1845-1915). This one appeared in The Baby’s Bouquet from the 1890s.
