Playing With Baby

Playing with baby, what a sweet family portrait we have here. It was included in an 1887 children’s book written by Mrs. Molesworth aka Mary Louise Molesworth (1839-1921).  A trio of children play together in this pretty line drawing by Walter Crane (1845–1915).

This is a nice-sized image that could easily be used for a postcard or a scrapbook page. I’ve removed the narrative of the story so that leaves you plenty of room for your own text or a picture of your own children – I think it would make a wonderful frame to show off your own family. The drawing depicts an older sister with her two younger brothers sitting on a rug by the fireplace hearth. They are playing with a pair of balls and it appears that the girl is showing the other two something. Both boys look on with great interest; one with his curly head resting on his sister’s shoulder.
