Hands on hips and one foot slightly ahead of the other; this little boy in green looks ready to confront someone. You can almost hear him sucking in a great big breath getting ready to let someone really have it. And yet, with his straw hat, white collar, blue socks and little yellow shoes, despite his confrontational air – he’s still cute. Best of all, this vintage drawing is in the public domain. It’s by the English artist Kate Greenaway (1846-1901). She illustrated a number of children’s books; images from a number of which can be found here on Reusable Art. This one is from Under the Window, published in 1879.
