Who Me?

While the publishers of the book where this little boy appeared had him introducing the entire book, to me it looks more like a little boy who is saying, “What? Who me?” With his palms up and hands to his side along with his head slightly tilted, he definitely makes the observer wonder just what has he been up to. This drawing of a little boy is most charming and the simple black and white coloring and the clothing he wears would make him a great addition to any project needing a charming picture of a child.

The title might be 1890 Baby’s Annual Pictures and Stories for Little People but the copyright for this vintage children’s book is actually 1889. Not that it truly matters as it is now over 120 years later and D. Lothrop Company did not attribute this book to either an author or an illustrator. Which means, all of the wonderful illustrations it contained are now in the public domain.
