Drop Cap A

This vintage black and white fancy letter A image is part of a set of 13 drop cap images from a single text. This letter reminds me of Aztec art.

The other letters in this set include:
B, C, E, H, I, L, M, N, O, S, T and U.

All of these letter images were included in the 1872 publicaiton A Book of Emblems with Interpretations Thereof. It remains unclear if the publishers Bell and Daldy used letters from a print foundry, they were drawn by the author Alfred Gatty (1809-1873) or they were drawn by some un-named artist.
