Large black and white Christmas border. With poinsettia flowers, and holly leaves surrounding them these two little cherubs seem to be bringing in the greens.
The book where this vintage image appeared, Waifs and Strays of Natural History was printed by Chiswick Press and Whittingham & Wilkins. It was published by Bell and Daldy. It is probably a bit of stock typography and dates back to at least 1871.
