The Nativity
Beautiful colored painting celebrating the birth of Christ. This Christmas painting of the Nativity is painted in a style referred to as the Cuzco School. The school was founded by the Spanish who wanted to convert the Incas to Catholicism. A group of religious painters founded the school in the city of Cusco around 1534.
This painting shows the Holy Family surrounded by a shepherd, ox, ass and an angel with a banner proclaiming "Glory to God in the highest" in Latin. Several Peruvian flowers blooming at the base of the manger further mark the piece as being from the Cuzco School.
It would make an outstandingly beautiful Christmas card.
The photograph is believed to have been taken in the United States which means this Christmas image should be in the public domain throughout the world.
