Skating Cupid

He doesn’t have his bow and quivers and nary an arrow in sight. But, sweet Cupid does appear to be enjoying himself on a cold winter’s day. An ice skating Cupid may not fit your ideal of the perfect drawing for Valentine’s Day but I could see a number of great little sayings about slipping, falling, gliding, etc. into love.

This sketch-like drawing of Cupid skating is by the American artist Oliver Herford (1863-1935) and was included in a book entitled Cupid’s Fair-weather Booke, published in 1911.
