Lily of the Valley Drawing

The King’s Warrant A Story of Old and New France was written by Alfred H. Engelbach. It was published in 1878 but Engelbach did not identify an illustrator or print foundry for the images that were included in his work.

Black and white drawing of a lily of the valley plant. It’s no wonder that so many publishers used this pretty little flower for chapter headings and footers. In real life their bell-shaped white flowers and low-growth habit make a real charming addition to any garden. And, their scent is heavenly.

If you look carefully, you might also spot the little bee flitting between the flowers.
