OK, I admit that I don’t know Aztec from Mayan when it comes to design. But, this public domain border image certainly reminds me of those two ancient civilizations from Mexico. This two-part border image also reminds me of the sun medallions that appear on a lot of their temple ruins. I love the overall design but I think it’s the fact that the bottom half is wider than the top half that really makes this frame image special.
Thomas E. Hill published Hill’s Album of Biography and Art in 1882. It included a number of wonderful illustrations and stock print foundry images.
