Malay Fowl

These tall and stately birds are quite recognizable for their height. Many Malay fowl can stand 30 inches tall. They are usually brownish-red but also can be found with pure white plumage. The legs are yellow without feathers. Their combs have wart-like knobs. These birds have an overall ferocious character which unfortunately has made them the bird of choice for cock fighting. These tough birds are able to survive in the courts and alleys of crowded cities. This chicken image, like all of our vintage bird images is in the public domain and ready for downloading.

It is so much fun finding vintage books full of wonderful illustrations. Thomas E. Hill’s 1882 work Hill’s Album of Biography and Art provided over 200 drawings for this site.
