Aztec Page Spacer

This vintage page spacer looks like it has an Aztec King with his battle shield and a pair of spears. Not sure if that’s what the original illustrator intended for this black and white border image but he sure does look fierce.

When Alfred H. Engelbach’s book was published in 1878, Engelbach did not identify an illustrator. Many of the images were probably purchased from a print foundry to be used with The King’s Warrant A Story of Old and New France.
