Village Scene

While more well-known for her drawings of children, this village scene by Ida Waugh (1846 – 1919) has all of the style and charm her work is recognizable for. Rescued from an 1892 children’s book entitled The Minstrel Boy and Other Stories, this little drawing looks like something that would be perfect for a scrapbook pages, greeting card or other paper craft.

Green fields stretch out in front of a small village of several homes and a church. Trees add some height to the overall picture and everything is framed by a light blue sky. Completing the picture is a small flock of birds.
