Humorous images of children would appear to be a specialty of Ida Waugh. In this vintage illustration, she has a young boy being chased by a bull and escaping over a fence just in the nick of time. What makes this image so fun is that the boy is still in mid-air flying up-side-down over the fence while the bull simply watches his antics.
There’s just something so charming about the work of Ida Waugh (d.1919). “The Escape” was used to illustrate Holly Berries which was published in 1881.
