M with Ivy Leaves

drop_mMini M with ivy leaves; a vintage letter image that is fully in the public domain. It was included in a book of poetry from 1878. With that date, we know that it is safe to use for even commercial projects.

It’s on the small size but like all of the letter images fromĀ Ballads of Beauty, it was printed well and the scan came out fairly crisp. The letter itself is dark and solid. The vines are draped from top to bottom, including a number of curling tendrils. Where the vines cross over the letter M, they are white to make them really stand out nicely. Perhaps add a gentle wash of color to the leaves or simply leave it as the original artist intended.
