Sea Turtle

There’s just something about turtles that fascinates me. But, when they live in the sea, turtles just have a peaceful serenity not found in their land-based relatives.

This sea turtle was included in an encyclopedia article in 1911. It was discussing flight and flying. It was an example of “traveling extremities” that are adapted for water. When a sea turtle glides though the water, they do appear to be flying through the ocean.
