Dolly Wants to Swim

Charming vintage drawing of an elder sister and her little sibling at the water’s edge. The younger child sees the ducks swimming at the edge of the creek and thinks that their dolly would also like to take a swim in the water. As seagulls fly overhead and the barefoot little girl stands on the rocky shore, this drawing depicts the moment just before the little one lets go of the dolly.

The title might be 1890 Baby’s Annual Pictures and Stories for Little People but the copyright for this vintage children’s book is actually 1889. Not that it truly matters as it is now over 120 years later and D. Lothrop Company did not attribute this book to either an author or an illustrator. Which means, all of the wonderful illustrations it contained are now in the public domain.
