Tall Sunflowers

Two sunflowers bloom at the top of a long branch in this vintage image. Though over 120 years old, this flower image looks more like a modern clip art flower than the copyright free, vintage image it is.

There’s something special about sunflowers. These happy yellow and brown flowers that grow as tall as a man. The birds love the seeds and they’re quite tasty for snacking too. To me, they look a bit like their name – a piece of sunshine growing in the garden.

This colorful vintage image dates back to 1881 when it appeared in the work Holly Berries. The artist was Ida Waugh (d.1919).
