Toilette de Ville

Civil War era fashion plate from a vintage magazine. The dress was entitled Toilette de Ville and the text indicated this dress was worn by fashionable ladies “for wear at home on reception mornings”. Silk fabric and silk buttons are joined by white lace to create this high fashion dress. This vintage clothing image is in the public domain and may be used where ever you need a vintage clothing image.

This vintage illustration is from The Lady’s Home Magazine Volume XV, a magazine published in 1860. It was edited by T.S. Arthur and Miss Virginia F. Townsend. They did not identify the illustrator(s) for their publication.
