Snail and Flowers

It may be small and a bit cartoonish but perhaps this vintage snail and flowers drawing will add a bit of color and sunshine to your work. If snails looked this pretty and sweet in real life, perhaps gardeners wouldn’t be so quick to smoosh them.

The grey and green snail appears to be examining a bunch of white and pink flowers. It’s almost as if the first flower is screaming for help before he gets eaten. OK, that might be an exaggeration but, look, doesn’t it look like an open mouth on a face? Yep, been working with too many pictures today.

Anyway, this snail and flowers drawing is the work of Oliver Herford (1863-1935) and was included in a 1911 book for children.
