Lark Nest

Vintage black and white drawing of a lark’s nest with four chicks begging for their dinner. The lark builds its nest among corn stalks and often flies above the nest in hopes of luring predators and human eyes away from her babies. This charming bird image is copyright free and ready for downloading.

I always love finding books illustrated by Harrison Weir (1824-1906) because I know it will contain a number of great drawings. This one from 1877 was no exception. It was included in the children’s book Lily’s Screen.
