Sitting by the Fireplace

A pair of ladies sit in front of a fireplace. They might be mother and daughter or just two women who care for each other deeply. One appears to be comforting the other. The drawing room that they are sitting in looks finely appointed and the two ladies look to be fairly wealthy from their clothing and the room itself.

A Girl’s Own Paper Vol VIII no. 354 only identied the editor as Charles Peters. It dates back to 1886 which puts all of the images on Reusable Art from this work in the public domain.
