Vintage Peas and Tomatoes Image

peas-tomatoesIt’s a shame that more of the wonderful seed catalogs from the 1800s and early 1900s weren’t colorized. But, when they are, the illustrations are usually glorious color-filled plates like this one of peas and tomatoes. Even better, it looks like you could turn this vintage image into two – one with peas and one with tomatoes.

It’s too bad that a little of the left-side of the image was cut off in the scanning – it must have been too close to the binding to get a good capture without ruining the booklet. But, the most important parts of this vintage peas and tomatoes image is intact and looks good enough to eat.

We have Peter Henderson & Co. to thank for this lovely vegetable image. It was part of their 1890 seed catalog and showcases their “Heroine” pea and their “Table Queen” tomatoes.
