Tending the Garden

Isn’t this drawing fun and full of irony? When I think of crows and my garden, I think of large voracious birds eating every seed they can get their beak on. In this anthropomorphic bird image, the crow is the one tending the garden. He is gently placing the sweet pea seeds all in a row as he plants his vegetable garden. I think this would make a fun gardening image to add to a scrapbook page.

Johnny Crow’s Garden contained so many charming drawings. They were published in 1903 and were drawn by the artist Leonard Leslie Brooke (1862-1940). However, this drawing appears to be signed by someone else.
