Illustrations from The Night Before Christmas

Twas the Night Before Christmas is perhaps one of the most loved of all of American children's stories. It has been published countless times in a huge variety of forms. Many well-known illustrators have added their own interpretation to the wonderful story of Santa Claus.

This category strives to celebrate the wonders of Christmas and the poem Clement C. Moore is believed to have written in 1823. (Some scholars are suggesting that the poem was written by Major Henry Livingston, Jr.).

No matter who the original author was, the poem introduced American children to that Jolly Old Elf and is credited with moving his arrival to the night before Christmas rather than on Christmas Day.

With so many wonderful versions of the poem available in the public domain, it seemed only fitting to create a place on Reusable Art to celebrate the poem and the beautiful illustrations that accompanied it.
