Owls in a Tree

Public domain owl drawing with two owls in the same tree. They look like a balancing act sitting so far apart on matching branches, almost like mirror images of each other. This drawing is such a great example of Dugald Stewart Walker’s illustrations – a decidedly art deco appearance with tiny designs to fill in the space and creating light and dark areas within the overall drawing.

Cottontail and the Wishing-Fairy, published in 1921 included this and a number of other charming vintage drawings by Dugald Stewart Walker (1883-1937).
