Louis Agassiz Fuertes

Louis Agassiz Fuertes (1874-1927) is one of my favorite illustrators that I have the pleasure of sharing with folks here on ReusableArt.com. He was an American ornithologist, artist and illustrator. His stunning ornithological art rivals that of John James Audubon and his work was used in a number of natural history publications about birds and nature.

Fuertes worked from his own experiences in the field and from freshly collected specimens. His pieces are considered among the most accurate and natural depictions of birds. I’ve been lucky to access a number of works which featured his art and will hopefully continue to add more fine examples of his talent here in this special image category dedicated to his life and work.
