Queen Bee

queen-beeBlack and white queen bee drawing from 1910. The 11th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica identified this particular queen bee as being an Apis mellifica. A quick Google search on that species yielded nothing on Wiki and only homeopathic treatments from their honey.

Whatever. The point here isn’t so much about recreating encyclopedia articles as enjoying the many wonderful insect illustrations they contain. So, here’s hoping that this queen bee drawing will prove useful in your artistic endeavors.
