Pheasant Drawing

Beautiful vintage pheasant drawing from the Prang publishing company. The original markings on this colored bird drawing indicate this is a species of pheasant native to Asia and Europe. Unfortunately, the original did not provide the species name, only that it was a gallinaceous bird – a heavily bodied terrestrial bird.

This vintage print is one in the series of Natural History prints that L. Prang and Company produced in the 1870s. I’m so glad they included a pheasant drawing. I think these birds are so beautiful but they often seem overshadowed by more exotic birds.

The original background on this drawing was showing its age. I removed it and put a solid white/grey one. The bird can easily be lifted off of the new background and put on your own.
